TellIaC Privacy Policy

We believe developer tools must respect privacy by design. TellIaC is built with a local-first architecture: your cloud credentials, infrastructure code, state files, and secrets never touch our servers.

1. Overview and Core Privacy Principles

This Privacy Policy governs the TellIaC open-source software, documentation portal (https://telliac.pages.dev/), and related communication channels. TellIaC is operated by the TellIaC Project team.

Our fundamental architectural promise is simple: TellIaC does not collect, transmit, store, or monetize your infrastructure code, cloud provider API keys, or operational telemetry.

🛡️
Local-First Guarantee All CLI parsing (telliac validate), plan generation (telliac plan), Terraform export (telliac export), and cloud provisioning (telliac apply) execute strictly within your local machine or your CI/CD runner. No external analytics endpoints are contacted by the CLI.

2. Data Handling by Component

A. The TellIaC CLI and Engine

  • Cloud Credentials: Cloud authentication tokens (such as AWS Access Keys, Azure Client Secrets, GCP Service Account JSONs, and Kubernetes kubeconfig contexts) are read locally from standard environment variables and local system keyrings. The CLI connects directly to the respective cloud provider endpoints. TellIaC never intercepts or copies these credentials.
  • State Stores: State files generated by telliac apply are saved locally in your project's state/ directory or pushed directly to your own configured remote backend bucket (AWS S3, Azure Blob, or Google Cloud Storage).
  • Zero Telemetry: There is no hidden phone-home telemetry, usage beacon, or anonymous tracking built into the TellIaC binary or Python package.

B. The Website & Documentation Portal

  • Hosting & Edge Infrastructure: Our web portal is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process transient server log data (such as IP addresses, browser user agent strings, and request timestamps) strictly for security defenses, DDoS mitigation, and edge caching purposes.
  • Web Sandbox & Interactive Playground: The in-browser playground (accessible on our homepage) runs entirely in client-side JavaScript. Code typed into the sandbox editor is compiled and rendered in device memory; it is not sent to any backend server.
  • Support & Contact Submissions: If you voluntarily submit a message or support ticket via our contact forms, we collect the details you provide (name, email address, inquiry topic, and message text) solely to communicate with you and triage your issue. We do not sell or share this information.

Google AdSense uses cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet:

4. Data Retention and Security

We do not maintain customer databases or user registration profiles. Contact inquiries sent via our web forms or email are retained only as long as necessary to resolve the inquiry or to maintain records of open-source project issues.

5. Your Rights Under GDPR & CCPA/CPRA

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to Access: You can request a summary of any personal information we hold (such as historical email support correspondence).
  • Right to Rectification or Erasure: You can request correction or complete deletion of your support correspondence.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing: TellIaC does not sell or share personal information with third parties.

6. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our software, legal requirements, or advertising practices. Any updates will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
